Choosing a Hypnotherpist
I think a lot more people would go to see a hypnotherapist if they had some way to know how to determine if he or she were capable of helping them make the changes they want to make. As hypnosis gains in popularity, there are more therapists available and most of them are competent. To be sure that you are choosing a hypnotist that can serve you well keep several things in mind.
1. Are you comfortable when you talk to them? Are they professional?
2. Are they interested in your problem or do they just seem interested in getting your money and moving on to the next client?
3. Ask about their success rate but do not put too much emphasis on this. I always say that I don’t really know my success rate because although I ask the clients to let me know, I rarely hear back from them unless I run into them outside of the office.
4.Do ask about their training. I emphasize the need for continued training
5. How long have they been in practice?
6. Know their fees upfront. You don’t need any surprises after the therapy.
7. Have an idea of how many sessions to expect to attend in order accomplish your goals.
8. Will he or she be available at hours you can visit? One of my pet peeves are professioanl people that seem to have no idea that people have jobs and that most of them seem to work during the day, Monday through Friday. Why can’t they keep office hours the average person can attend without creating problems?
9. How soon can you get an appointment?
10. Find out if you will learn self-hypnosis as part of your treatment.
If the Hypnotherapist is patient-oriented, they will not mind answering these questions and will show an interest in meeting the needs of his client. This is the therapist I would want to work with.
