Stopping fingernail biting can be very difficult.  Sometime you manage to stop fpr a while and the nails grow out a bit and suddenly they are down to the quick again.

Sometimes people try to break the habit by putting things on their fingernails that are distasteful or use things like nail polish that biting them would disfigure.

To stop one needs to be able to access the subconscious mind. It is always necessary to do this to break any deeply ingrained habit. The best way to access the subconscious mind is with the help of a hypnotist. Nail biting os one of the major reasons that people go to hypnotists. It ranks third after weight management and smoking.

Most people believe that if they can just conjure enough will-power they can break any habit.  In fact, will-power will not break a habit.  We all have desplayed will-power in numerous areas of our lives but when it comes to our habits, we have given up the ability to use will-power.  Why, because our subconxcious mind has come to the belief that this particular habit is beneificial.  Before the habit can be broken, the subconscious must be convinced that the individual would be better off without the habit.

An individual session with a hypnotist is the most effective treatment but there are several others.  There are many websites that offer CD’s or MP3′s than one can use for self-hypnosis.  There are also offers of custom made CD’s.

To visit a hypnotist requires some courage.  If you have never been hypnotized, you probably have many misconceptions aobut hypnosis.  You are not giving up control. You will not give away personal secrets.  You are not asleep. In fact, you are in total control.  Everything that occurs in a hypnotic session happens with the client’s consent.  The main benefit from the individual session is that the hypnotist will conduct a pre-session interview and will have enough information about you to provide a tailor-make hypnotic session.  Your nail-biting problem will be history.
