A lot of people consider this to be a fairly new use  of hypnosis but I believe that hypnosis has been a part of childbirth since women have been having children. I believe that some mid-wives have been pracitcing this process since time began  More women are once again becoming aware that hypnosis is a safe and a more comfortable way to bring their children into the world.  This can  be done without anesthesia, and drugs and little or no discomfort.

Tom Nicoli is a nationally known hypnotist.  He is mostly known for his weight loss work but he does offer many other programs. He was on Dateline NBC and was successful in facilitating weight loss on “The Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge.” This was a test of several different weight loss programs to see which may be most effective.  Mr. Nicoli’s patient lost 40 pounds during the course of the challenge..

There are all types and various time lengths of hypnosis training available today. The National Guild of Hypnotists (NHG) requires that you receive 100 hours of training from one of their Certified Trainers. There are programs that will certify Hypnotists after a weekend of training. I recently saw some posts by an individual that received his training free by watching videos online.

There are many myths that circulate around the subjects of hypnosis and hypnotherapy.  Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy as is psychotherapy that is intended to help people overcome problems in their lives.  Stage hypnosis is intended to be entertainment. The people who participate in stage hypnosis volunteer for the experience and are aware that they will do things that seem silly or foolish.  I believe that stage hypnosis is responsible for many people’s reluctance to participate in hypnotherapy.

Treating Panic Attacks With Hypnosis

Panic attacks can disrupt your life.   You can be in the middle of a routine daily behavior and a panic attack can kick in. First, you have trouble breathing. Your heart starts beating faster. You think you might be having a heart attack. There is a sense of impending doom.  You are not sure what is wrong but you begin to think something is very wrong.  Then you focus on the feelings and as you think about them they increase.  Now, you can’t breath, your chest hurts the sense of impending doom increases.  Then the cycle just increases and it is a cycle that just continues to spiral.  This describes a severe panic attack.
