What is Hypnosis?
One of the first questions people want answered is “What is Hypnosis?” Many people do not understand hypnosis and need to have their misconceptions rectified before continuing. These misconceptions lead to fear or mistrust and can stand in the way of someone making a decision as to whether hypnosis can help solve their particular problem.
Hypnosis is actually a state of focused attention that allows a person to become more susceptible to suggestions by the hypnotist. These suggestions can be anything but if they go against the person’s basic nature, they will reject these suggestions. The hypnotic state or trance, is only a part of the hypnotic process.
There is traditional hypnosis where the hypnotist does hypnosis with the client. There is also a state know as “walking hypnosis. This would be a naturally occuring trance that one enters into spontaneously much the same as when enters into a state of meditation. This is usually done when one is engaged in repetitive behaviors. This is a natural occurrence and one that occurs to most of us on a frequent basis.
When in hypnosis, the brain is not asleep but is in a very relaxed and focused condition and becomes open to accepting suggestions from the hypnotist. The mind is in a condition similar to just before going to sleep at night. The mind is very relaxed and quiet but one can still hear everything that is happening and if need be, they can get up and deal with anything that might happen.
while in hypnosis, a person can not be made to do things against their will. They will only accept sugestions that they feel comfortable with. People only answer questions with information that they wish to disclose. Hypnosis is not a truth serum.
Anyone of normal or better intelligence and who is willing to follow instructions can be hypnotized. Hypnosis can assist people in making major changes in their life. It can help people alter any behavior. You can do this by making an appointment with a certified hypnoitist. You can learn self-hypnosis or you can buy cd’s or mp2′s offered on one of many websites.
