When you do hypnosis, state your goals
Many people have a vague idea of what they would like to accompllish in the next hour, in the next week, month, year or the rest of their lives. Too many of us don’t take the time to firm out these ideas. In fact, we tend to go through our lives, just waiting for things to happen so that we can react to them. We fail to make rhings happen for us instead of just reacting. That is called being proactive.
It seems to me that being proactive is infinitely better than being reactive. This goes for most if not all areas of our lives, including visiting a hypnotist.
Too often I have had people show up at my office with no firm idea of what they would like to accomplish by doing hypnosis. They really don’t want the hypnotist to explain what is going to happen. They don’t understand hypnosis but they decide that the Hypnotist knows what is best for then and just want him to do it. They only have some vague idea of what they want. Some people come in wanting to loose weight others want to stop smoking. Some people want to be able to control pain.
I alway scdule a free consultation with my clients before their first session to develop a firm idea of what they want. The odd thing is that when it is explained to them how we will go about accomplishing their wishes, they become impatient. They don’t want to take responsibility for their success of failure they just want the Hypnotist to do that magical thing that will take them to that hazy picture in their mind of accimplishment.
To present yourself for a successful hypnotherapy session you should develop a firm picture in your mind of exactly what you want to accomplish. You should then tell the Therapist what you want. He should then evaluate and proscess this information and develop a treatment plan to accomplish your goals. This first time you go for hypnosis, state your goals to that you and the Hypnotist can work toward a successful treatment.
